LASER SCANNING
Terrestrial 3D laser scanners burst onto the surveying scene in the last decade and are still causing waves.

SATMAP Surveys was one of the first users and pioneers of this powerful technology in South Africa. Using our laser scanner we are able to capture millions of points per setup. This enables us to effectively eliminate individual measurement errors and returning to site to capture any missed details.

After the site work is complete we convert the scanners raw data into a 3D geo-referenced point cloud. This point cloud can consist of a few million to billions of points! It is using this point cloud that we produce our drawings of, including but not limited to floor plans, pipe runs, cross sections, structure modelling, and Digital Elevation Models (DEMs). The scans can also be exported in RCP/RCS format for the client to use in their AUTODESK applications.

We also offer a standalone point cloud viewer program that allows anyone to utilize the power of the point cloud! This program allows the user to measure dimensions, measure areas, drop vertical lines, cut sections, export sections of the cloud for their own use and much more!
An all round versatile 3D terrestrial scanner that combines both good range with quick per scan times whilst not compromising on quality.
Each of the millions of points has an X,Y,Z,Intensity and RGB value. This means the cloud looks very life like when in colour and makes conversion to a model in Revit more simple.
This cloud has been colourised by height values and a cross section cut along the white line. Point clouds alllow for quick and unlimited direction cross sections.
