The impact of small consumer drones has completely and forever changed aerial photogrammetry. Once one of the costliest and time consuming jobs to undertake (and primarily used for large scale projects only) it can now be done in usually less than 48 hours; from fieldwork to processed images.

Consumer drones have allowed for our small and medium scale projects to now also have access to data obtained from aerial photography, such as orthorectified images and point clouds.

Our larger projects have also benefited from the drone revolution with purpose built drones being cheaper to maintain and build than tradition air-frames.

For extremely large scale projects however, such as photographing the entire Cape Town metropolitan area, and ones using heavier/different sensors (for example LiDAR) traditional fixed wing aircraft are still used.
